2.  PRESIDENT’S REPORT      JANICE SCHMITT * Any corrections to August minutes - response No-  Motion made by Gina to accept minutes as submitted.  2nd by Valsheria.* Thank you card sent to board * Debit/Credit Card North West Bank won't issue one for business and we would need a EIN# for a credit card.  Board discussed the matter. Credit card issue should be tabled for now.

 

3.  TREASURER’S REPORT        KATHRYN CURRAN  *Written Report

 

4.  ATHLETIC DIRCECTOR    TERRY NIEDZWIECKI * Winter Sports Meeting to be held Nov.1st.  Booster Club invited, Scholastic Bowl will be present. *  Girl's Basketball starting Nov. 1st. Team banquets going well, he is trying to attend as many as possible.  Some are on the same day.

 

5. SPORTS COALITION MEETING   TOM CHUCHNA *Auburn and West were not well represented.  The coalition is similar to the booster club and helps with sports in middle and high school.  They helped start the West Football program and they are doing very well. The seed money was established for the other middle schools to start this fall.  For Thanksgiving there will be a fundraiser raffle and support is needed.  *Short discussion as to why parents do not support the coalition and Auburn.  Some of the issues: pay up front for sports so some parents choose not to sell sports cards.  Waivers have been reinstated.

 

6. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT     KRISTIN WILSON  * Newsletter for school goes out Nov 19th.  She would like the Booster Club to write something up for the parent newsletter and submit it before Nov 2nd.  Other deadline dates 1/30 & 4/2.   *ACT scores up 0.6% from last year in total, Academy not broken out (Junior Class tested).  In the year 2000, 232 juniors tested State score 19.4  Auburn 20.9:  2002-03,  270 tested State 19.4 Auburn 19.4: 2003-04, 288 tested State 19.8 Auburn 19.9.* Superintendent in to talk with faculty- Had a great question and answer session.  * Choice Open House Dec 2nd 7-8 pm.  Need Booster volunteers to assist with planning and improvement, also ideas to show case school.  Gina will work with Mrs Wilson and Staff on this issue. PGE & Gifted will also have something special going on that night.

 

7. FINANCIAL REQUESTS                   I.  COACH CHARBONNEAU, Wrestling *$639.95  for weight scale.  Scale is regulation, portable, can be certified yearly and is easily stored. Request approved by A.D. Scale will be stored in A.D. office. (submitted request with 2 estimates and a picture of scale).   II.    HARNISH, Media Dept. * $2500.00 to repair old, broken and run down equipment, which makes projects hard to complete.  He currently has different projects in the works to bring in some funding for the media dept.  Some students currently do internships at T.V. stations. (raw footage tape shown) If request granted he would like ABC to keep funds in treasury.  III.  KIM CAMPBELL, Yearbook *$1,125.00 needed to put 4 new items into this year’s book to make it better.  Last year sold approx. 600. At registration maybe more requested for this year. (written request and new items listed provided).    IV.  MELI & LUCZAK, CORE  *$600.00  needed to help assist students at risk/Rosecrance.  (a list of items that CORE may purchase was submitted).

 

8. PARENT COUNCIL         ANGIE WARTOWSKI   *Meeting was Oct 5th. There will be NO ZERO HOUR (parents need to continue to use Rock Valley).  The PE wavier was well supported, a lot of talk about middle school funding and safety issues. Talk about ESL & GED using day hours to educate the kids, zero tolerance for guns & knives, etc.  These kids would go to the Regional Learning Academy in Loves Park; at risk kids, Roosevelt.  The funding may come in part from the jail money. Nothing about hall aides.  Reports are that things are going better without them.  There needs to be an administrator present at school dances. AP classes supported.  No support for incoming freshmen, Voc. Ed., Magnet High School. Teacher contracts coming up.

 

9. CONCESSIONS             VALSHERIA LANGLEY  *Football over, homecoming sales low, cold & raining, same thing for last game of the season. New popcorn poppers arrived, one for outside and one for inside, Jefferson paid for half of outside popper.  The old machine hauled away for free. Will have the small bags for basketball, large bags are all gone.  Volleyball will have workers for sectionals 10/26-29th.  There will be 9 teams coming in.  Discussion by board motion made by Janice to give Volleyball $100 per event, 2nd by Gina passed unanimously by board.

 

10.  SPIRIT WEAR             GINA BOETTCHER  * $740 turned in to treasurer from parent teacher conference and $300 from 10/15.  Can order online. Just go to the website at www.auburnbooster.com.  Nothing about On the Waterfront proceeds yet.  Donations received from Calendar Raffle winners Sara Moser $30.00 & Michael St John's grandmother, Ginger Foss gave back $10.

 

11.                FINANCIAL REQUEST DISCUSSION & VOTING  *I Randy moved to give $640 to purchase weight scale; 2nd by Pam W. Questions (none). Passed unanimously.   II.  Board held long discussion on this issue. Motion was made by Randy to give $2,500 under the condition that Mr. Harnish or a representative of this dept. help to write grants, and the funds to be kept in the ABC's Treasury as asked in his presentation to the board. 2nd by Pam; Questions (none), Passed unanimously.  III.  Motion made by Carol to give $1,125 to yearbook; 2nd by Pam, Passed unanimously.  IV.  Motion made by Randy to give $600 to CORE; 2nd by Valsheria, Question (yes) Discussion: Several board members would like to see CORE set up a wish list, ask school clubs to help on such projects for community service. .  Motion was amended by Randy to give $600 to CORE to use, as they need with the recommendation that they ask key club & NHS to help. This money comes out of the ABC's FUNDS, not NON ATHLETICS. 2nd by Valsheria, Questions (none), Passed unanimously.
