May 8, 2006 Booster Club Meeting Minutes

Minutes approved from meeting of April 10, 2006.

 

President Report:  Welcomed new parents and provided an overview of booster club activities.  Senior awards night 5/10/06.  Parents without seniors were asked to help with refreshments.  The All Sports/Activity banquet will be held on 6/6/06 and the guest speaker will be Tim Dimke, Auburn class of 1974.  Booster Club pays for dinner for all honored students.  Parents and other guests pay $15 each.  Volunteers needed to set up name tags and decorate.  Prom will be Saturday 5/13/06 at Ramada.  Graduation will be 6/2/06 at 10:00 a.m. Metro Center.  Volunteers needed to work at On the Waterfront on 9/2-9/4/06.  Profit last year was over $690.  Volunteers can buy discounted buttons.  Maureen will coordinate training and work schedule.

Athletic Director’s Report:  None 

 

Distribution Requests:  Kim Campbell, yearbook advisor, requested 5 computers at a cost of $800 each and tuition for 4 kids to attend camp at $295 per child.  The board approved the purchase of 3 computers for total of $2400.

 

Precious Bowen, new cheerleading coach, requested 4 tumbling mats at a cost of $189 each.  She is purchasing 2 and needs booster club assistance to purchase four.  The board approved the purchase of 4 mats for a total of $796.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Total assets $30, 849, including $15,000 start up for the fall which is currently in a 3 month C.D.  The booster club plans to provide some funds for the weight room when plans become available.

 

Concessions:  A separate meeting will be held for volunteers for various jobs. For Market Day, it was suggested to find more equitable way of paying groups to work instead of having the distribution be dependent on sales. This will be discussed in the future.

 

Spirit wear:  There will be 200 $10.00 t-shirts for the conference track meet on 5/12/06.

 

Unfinished Business:  A shed will be donated by Home Depot to use for storing Coke products at the outdoor concession stand.  We will have confirmation in July.  Girls track team placed 5th in the conference – best finish in 7 years.

 

New Business:   Nominations and elections were held for officers and board members for the school year 2006-2007: President:  Maureen Hargrove, Vice President, Barb Niven, Treasurer, Ronda Gorman, Secretary Jude Makulec.  The following board members were elected: Sandy Schwartz, Janice Schmitt, Pertina Porchia, Carol Kloppman, Randy Wilt, Kathryn Curran, Zonka Thompson, Leslie Montgomery, Stephanie Wittington, Jim Hite, Betty Marshall, and Laura Powers.

 

Last meeting will be June 8, 2006 at Tumbleweed.  Everyone is invited.
